- Interested in history and sharing one of Portland's premier attractions? Pittock Mansion is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to greet visitors in the Mansion and at the Gate Lodge, a historic home next to Pittock Mansion. Bring the Pittock stories to life as a host to greet visitors, inform them of the history of the home, answer questions, and assist with the original elevator. Long-term, short-term, and holiday season volunteers are welcome. Please note that Gate Lodge is not handicap accessible. If you are interested in volunteering or want to learn more, please contact Michelle Fitzsimmons at mfitzimmons@pittockmansion.org or (503) 823-3587. Pittock Mansion, built by Portland pioneers Henry and Georgiana Pittock, is an architectural landmark that tells the story of the city's transformation from a small lumber town to a bustling city. Today, the nonprofit Pittock Mansion Society and Portland Parks and Recreation collaborate to operate the museum and the surrounding 46-acre park. The mission of the Pittock Mansion Society is to inspire understanding and stewardship of Portland history through Pittock Mansion, its collection, and programs.
