The company was named after the last name initials of its founding officers C.E. Reiss, P.P. Crisp and Harry C. Allyn when they purchased a plant from the receivers of the Trump Brothers Rubber Company on December 21, 1931. Initial products were molded rubber automobile mats, rubber matting, stair treads and utility mats. R.C.A. became a prominent producer of premium-grade rubber sheet transit flooring and molded rubber step treads shortly thereafter.
