- Youth Communication, founded in 1980, helps marginalized teens strengthen the social, emotional, and literacy skills that contribute to success in school, work, and life. We do that by providing educators with uniquely compelling teen-written non-fiction stories, curricula, and professional development that help them use those stories with teens.OUR TWO PROGRAMS: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and NON-FICTION TEEN WRITINGWe provide story-based professional development that helps teachers and other adults strengthen the skills they need to achieve their goals wit the hardest-to-reach teens. We offer training help staff work with teens on general social and emotional development, building resilience, conflict resolution, positive masculinity, and transition to adulthood. Staff who find the most success with our training and curricula tend to work with youth in alternative or second chance schools, juvenile justice programs, foster care agencies, and other setting with at-risk teens.All of our curricula are based on highly engaging true stories written by teens our on intensive writing program.
