• The First Tee of Battle Creek MissionTo impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill-life enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. The goal of The First Tee are to see participants graduate from high school on time with the life skills needed to succeed in college and life, with the ability to make healthy choices and with the desire to positively impact their communities.The First Tee of Battle Creek is our local chapter of The First Tee, an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after school and in school programs, we help shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf.Caring adults professionally trained in youth development teach our participants to appreciate diversity, resolve conflicts, build confidence and set goals for their future. Our life skills curriculum focuses on four life skills categories interpersonal skills, self-management, goal-setting, and resilience skills and Nine Core Values honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. In addition, The First Tee Nine Healthy Habits, which are organized under three categories of physical, emotional and social health, include: energy, play, safety, vision, mind, family, friends, school and community. Our research-proven programs are having a positive impact on participants, their families and our community.No child is turned away due to inability to pay.
