- The HEAL Project (THP) is a non-profit organization operating in classrooms and gardens throughout the San Mateo County Coastside. We believe that everyone should have access to quality food systems education. We see food and how it's grown as central to the health of the individual and the planet. Our mission is to teach kids where their food comes from and why it matters. We envision a world where everyone understands the connection between our food, our health, and our environment. Currently, The HEAL Project operates five programs: School Farm - Field trips to the farm offer San Mateo County students an opportunity to connect with the environment and the food they eat. Click here to register for a field trip. We also offer community days for volunteers of any age to come out and get their hands in the soil. Click here for more information. The HEAL Project Class - One hour each week of lessons and activities that connect 2nd & 3rd grade children with their health, the planet and their community; class time is combined between the garden & the classroom. Currently offered at Farallone View and Hatch Elementary Schools.Garden Club - Weekly garden maintenance & skill building activities offered to 4th/5th grade students; members conduct campus garden sales, plan & participate in running Farmers Market sales booth, service learning, community projects and annual State Agricultural Certification. Currently offered at Farallone View and Hatch Elementary SchoolsEAAT (Engaged Active Agricultural Tasters) - A nutrition lesson and food preparation or cooking activity along with a tasting featuring a California Specialty Crop. Program is sponsored by the CDFA. Currently offered at Hatch, Farallone View and El Granada Elementary Schools and upon request at other locations. Day Camps - The HEAL Project's day camps offer students fun and educational outdoor experiences on the Farm. Visit www.thehealproject.org to learn more.
