- The Healthiest State Initiative is a 501c3 non-profit organization created to inspire Iowans and their communities throughout the state to improve their physical, social, and emotional well-being. To achieve our goal, individuals, families, businesses, faith-based organizations, not-for-profits and the public sector will unite in a community-focused effort to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. To measure our progress, we use the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index®. In 2016, Iowa ranked as the 19th healthiest state in the nation. Our ranking has moved since the Initiative was announced, but we have still have work to do to claim the #1 spot. See more at: http://www.iowahealthieststate.com
