Most successful professional sports franchise in North American soccer history. Company History: From 1978-1998, the San Diego Sockers won 10 Indoor Soccer League Championships (1981-1985, 1987-1991). After a five year hiatus from 2003-2008, the Sockers returned to indoor arena action to claim the 2009 Premier Arena Soccer League National Championship. Sockers went on to win four straight Indoor Soccer Championships, set a record for most competitive wins in professional sports (48) and continued as San Diego's only championship winning professional sports franchise.
