We all fall. When life falls apart, HopeNet comes alongside. HopeNet provides coaching and counseling: * Building Community Support...networking with community to build personal resources with clients * Equipping with new skills...applying life skills and mental health techniques * Getting to the root cause...of cyclical behavior is the key and it takes time * Empowering personal growth...treating all with dignity and teaching a person to fish. HopeNet started over 20 years ago in Wichita, Kansas. HopeNet served nearly 500 people in crisis last year. HopeNet is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is not government funded. Coaches and Counselors on staff are licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Science Board and trained to apply proven techniques for behavioral change. There are no costs for assessment and referral services. Counseling services are offered on a sliding fee scale. Currently, over 70% of HopeNet's clients live at or below the poverty level facing both material and emotional needs. Over 50% report symptoms of clinical depression and anxiety and 40% report relational conflict. Nearly 60 million American's experience a mental health condition each year, that's one in four, according to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI 2014). Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. According to local city-data.com, over 20% of Wichita's population lives in poverty. We all fall.
