• Founded in 2004, the award-winning E.L. Haynes Public Charter School currently serves 1,200 students from grades Pre-K through 12. E.L. Haynes is named for Dr. Euphemia Lofton Haynes - the first African-American woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics and a DC public school teacher for 47 years.StudentsThe diversity of our student body reflects the demographics of our city: 68% of E.L.
