• Photographer Jan Arrigo creates an intimate and unpredictable view of life between nature and culture, composing precise images from happenstance encounters with atmospheres, animals, architecture, birds, landscapes, seascapes and people.The International Center of Photography-trained artist and former docent began as a street photographer in New York where she worked in publishing, then as an advertising creative and freelance writer in the 1990s. A graduate course in the history of photography became the life-changing impetus to focus on creating pictures without preconceptions. She has exhibited in group shows in New York at Soho Photo Gallery where she also curated Surreal New York. She has also shown in group shows in Bethesda, MD, Brooklyn, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. and more recently at the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery's Odd Works, curated by David Rubin and in Femme Fest, a Women's Caucus for Art exhibit at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Gallery in 2008.
