    Description

    • Hey U.G.L.Y.- Unique Gifted Lovable You is a nonprofit organization that has been saving the lives of youth who are suicidal because of being bullied. We empower youth to be PART OF THE SOLUTION to bullying, substance abuse and suicide. Our HeyUGLY.org website, school assemblies and curriculum help youth discover their inner cool so they can be happy being WHO THEY ARE. We remember what it was like being afraid to be ourselves and always feel the need to compete with others. We know what it feels like to bullied. Bullying is so much more than physical too. It's those dirty looks, snide remarks, ugly emails and lies, lies, lies. It hurts when kids spread rumors and there's no way to defend yourself. We coined the term, We coined the term, SELF-BULLYING(tm), to help youth stop internalizing and fixating on the negative things people say about us. This s a huge issue and one that Hey U.G.L.Y.'s Stop Bullying Handbook addresses in detail. Youth who have gone through our Handbook report being able to be stand up for themselves and actually stop the bullies from bullying. See SelfBullying.org.Hey U.G.L.Y. launched BullyingBystandersUnite.org to teach youth safely how to SAFELY come to the aid of someone being bullied. Our website for educators and youth workers PreventBullyingNow.org is a great resource for those wanting to empower the next generation to be empathetic, productive adults.Hey U.G.L.Y. was co-founded by Betty (LaRico) Hoeffner who nearly lost a teen to suicide.
