Description

• Polls Show Borders Up In Mayors RaceWednesday, August 19, 2009Atlanta, Ga. August 19, 2009 An independent poll conducted by Insider Advantage released yesterday shows Atlanta Mayoral Candidate Lisa Borders gaining 18 points since the last poll conducted in May.Weve almost tripled our support in just three months. Thats tremendous, Borders said. Everywhere that Ive gone in the City, Atlantans have been eager to hear solution-based answers to how our next mayor will get Atlanta back on track. They want a plan for enhancing public safety, and they want to know where the funds will come from. I hear the need for a budget that gets our moneys worth and responsible government that cares for our community. Atlantans want a city that works. I welcome this news and look forward to speaking with more citizens about solutions to the challenges that we face. The latest poll comes on the heels of an endorsement of Lisa Borders by iMove, an Independent voters organization, and several public debates where the topics of city finance and public safety have been central. Voters in Atlanta are looking for a leader with the temperament, the experience and the competence to lead. Lisa has both the visionary leadership and the practical solutions Atlanta needs at this critical time in its history, said Stacey Abrams, Borders campaign manager. Lisa is willing to make tough choices and fight hard for all of Atlantas residents. This appeals to Independents as well as Democrats and Republicans.According to Insider Advantage, the 43 percent of undecided voters from the May poll has decreased significantly, suggesting a strong lead for Borders in gaining support of the critical bloc.Borders will continue her campaign for Atlanta Mayor with a Back on the Block block party Saturday, August 22, 2009 at her downtown campaign headquarters.
