The Clubs harbor-front bar and lounge, Dukes Place, was even named after John Wayne, who was on the Board of Governors.Reflecting the quaint charm of its surroundings, the Balboa Bay Club was founded to offer families a refined setting to enjoy Southern Californias sea, sand, and sun. The Club is located on 15 acres overlooking the Newport Bay and its prestigious harbor, which was developed in the early 1900s. A mix of both natural estuaries and man-made inlets, Newport Harbor contains several artificial islands, including the iconic Balboa Island, which is dotted with private homes and is accessible only by a two-lane bridge and ferryboat.Balboa Bay Club has expanded and improved over the years to fit the needs of the members and community. The club now includes the adjacent and waterfront Balboa Bay Resort, as well as long-term residences, one of the largest and most comprehensive marinas in Newport Beach, and a wide array of magnificent amenities.
