- Local Futures (or the International Society for Ecology and Culture) is a non-profit organization with offices in the US, UK, and Australia. Our mission is to protect and revitalize cultural and biological diversity by strengthening local communities and economies worldwide. Our emphasis is on education for action: moving beyond single issues to look at the more fundamental influences that shape our lives. Our Economics of Happiness program includes an award-winning film, a DIY workshop toolkit, and an ongoing series of international conferences. We also coordinate the newly-formed International Alliance for Localization, publish regular blog posts and articles, and host workshops, crop mobs and tourist education programs in Ladakh, India every summer.
