- Mindfulness First is a non-profit based in central Arizona. Our mission is to provide children and adults with life-skills to cope with conflict and adversity while facilitating happiness. To achieve our mission we utilize clinically created and studied, secular mindfulness practices. The heart of our work is in the public school system, where we provide an 8-week curriculum that places students into the driver's seat of their own biology. In neurological terms, we teach students how to move out of the primitive, 'cave-man' brain and into our full brain capacity; moving out of reaction and into responsiveness. Mindfulness is currently studied at every major University in America, and studies show that it helps to prevent bullying, violence and isolation while facilitating attention, focus and self-esteem. It is clearly proven to be a foundation for all aspects of life, and this includes creating a more cohesive, productive and peaceful school-culture where children truly learn. When working with schools and districts, we teach children, parents, teachers and staff.Outside of our work in schools, Mindfulness First works with all community members. Frequently used as a stress-management tool, Mindfulness has a place in communities and businesses.From community classes to corporate-wellness, adults are finding that Mindfulness empowers them to stay focused and less stressed. Mindfulness is utilized by many who work at the top of their field such as Google (see their Search Inside Yourself program), The Seattle Seahawks, Target, Ebay... the list goes on. We offer a wide range of on-site and online Mindfulness programs for employees, and all profits earned from this work fund our work in the school districts.
