• At CERSCI Therapeutics we are focused on developing the next generation of non-opioid pain therapeutics. According to the American Academy of Neurology, the risk of death, overdose, addiction or serious side effects with prescription opioids outweigh the benefits in chronic, non-cancer conditions such as headache, fibromyalgia and chronic low back pain. Our goal is to take cutting edge research on the mechanisms that cause pain to become chronic and turn this into therapies of tomorrow for chronic pain patients. At CERSCI Therapeutics we view chronic pain as a disease of the nervous system, which can be reversed with targeted therapies. We envision creating disease modifying therapies for chronic pain in the hopes of permanently reversing chronic pain. CERSCI Therapeutics is developing first in class adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activators and/or peroxynitrite (PN) scavengers for neuropathic pain. Based on the huge unmet clinical need and the innovative nature of the potential product we envision a large market for any potential product that would materialize from this line of research. CERSCI intends to refine leads identified in this project and move them toward Investigational New Drug (IND) application enabling research.
