- PHA is a K-12 public charter school founded in 1996 with the mission to prepare each student for success in college, to inspire a lifelong love of learning, and to foster responsible citizenship. Our school is located on three campuses in Cambridge and Somerville and serves 1,150 students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. 58% are black (the majority of Haitian origin), 19% are Latino, 13% are white, 7% are Asian, and 3% are of mixed race. 66% identify as low-income. As a college preparatory school, PHA lives up to its mission: over 95% of PHA graduates matriculate to college, most being the first in their families to do so. Since 2009, we have received six silver and one gold medal from U.S. News & World Report in its annual Best High Schools ranking, placing us among the top 4% of all U.S. high schools.
