• CELEBRATE. UNITE. UPLIFT. White Coats Black Doctors, Inc. (WCBD) is an organization founded by five black medical students, with a purpose to celebrate, unite, and uplift black medical students and physicians, and to support the development of future black physicians. Our organization was created at a time in our country when conversations about race, culture, and privilege often spurred distrust or disagreement, instead of progress. Because black men and women remain under-represented in the medical field, we fulfill the obligation to help black medical students and physicians not only feel proud of their achievements, but also to assist in the formation of a village that fosters and supports the growing black medical community. WCBD aims to create a community of Black medical students and pre-medical students across the country, as well as create opportunities to engage with and be mentored by Black physicians. In addition to selling merchandise, WCBD hosts and sponsors events designed to bring awareness to the need for more physicians of color and to the Black experience in medicine.
