• Dress for Success Oregon is an anti-poverty nonprofit that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since opening our doors in 1999, we have served almost 17,000 low-income women in our community. In 2013, we helped more than 500 women find employment and start the path out of poverty and towards a life of self-sufficiency.Dress for Success Oregon offers three proven core services: Professional ClothingOur clients, who are referred to us through one of our partner social service agencies, meet one-on-one with a volunteer personal shopper at a scheduled time to ensure they receive the personal attention they deserve. They receive workplace-appropriate clothing and a significant boost in their self-esteem. Hairstylists and makeup artists are available onsite to provide a variety of salon services. Once employed, the client is invited to return for additional job-appropriate attire.Job Search/Job PreparationCareer Center staff and volunteers provide career coaching, interview practice, and resume review/assistance to each client to help build professional skills, interview readiness and self-confidence. Unemployed clients can join our intensive job search workshops dedicated to helping them build relevant job skills, find employment and develop professionally. Job RetentionOur clients have the opportunity to join one of two job retention programs:1. The Professional Women's Group is dedicated to helping our employed clients stay employed by providing ongoing support, resources and mentorship that help each woman achieve self-defined success in career and life.2. The HOPE program is a specialized job retention program designed to educate and support our newly-employed clients throughout their first 90 days of employment, aiming to ease the transition into a new job and ensure job success.
