• We are a Rhode Island based company founded in 2009. We work with Rhode Island communities and municipalities to plan and construct wind turbines, delivering them reliable, inexpensive, and clean power. Our mission includes several goals: 1.) Increase energy security: Currently, Rhode Island imports almost all of its energy resources. In fact, nearly 98% of those resources come from natural gas, none of which is produced in Rhode Island. When this resource is in short supply the wholesale price of electricity for Rhode Islanders rises dramatically. Wind Energy Development, LLC is helping Rhode Island produce its own clean and renewable power which in turn makes our energy supply more reliable. 2.) Lower carbon emissions: Our turbines are completely clean, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions to the point where each turbine is the equivalent of taking 500 cars off the road every year. Our CEO has also created a unique geothermal cooling system so the turbine has no need for loud fans. Our first turbine, located in his front yard and providing power to the town of North Kingstown, is the first privately owned turbine in RI and we are excited to bring you more! 3.) Preserving farm land in RI: By constructing individual wind turbine projects on willing farmers' properties, our contract agreements with these farmers ensure they will be able to continue to operate their land for years to come. We rent a small area of land from the farmers who are paid a lease which provides them with more revenue. 4.) Boost local economies: Lastly, we deliver power to towns through a net metering program at a fixed, low rate, helping to save them millions of dollars over the course of our contract. We also create jobs in the U.S. manufacturing and servicing our turbines.
