• Women's Voices for the Earth formed in 1995 by a group of visionary women leaders in Missoula, Montana who recognized that most environmental organizations failed to include women in leadership positions or understand the systemic connections between health, class, race, and the environment. The mission of WVE is to eliminate toxic chemicals that harm women's health by changing consumer behaviors, corporate practices and government policies. WVE's overarching goal is to eliminate toxic chemicals most intimately impacting women's lives and the lives of their families - toxic chemicals that are the causes of breast cancer, birth defects, children's asthma, women's reproductive health problems, learning disabilities, and other illnesses. WVE recognizes that women's health is influenced by a complex web of social, political, environmental, and economic impacts, as well as by physiology. WVE's cutting edge national campaigns, unique approach of women-led advocacy, ability to foster strong collaborations across multiple fields, and outcome-driven programs position us as a leader in the environmental health movement.
