- Health Intervention Services is a faith-based, non-profit health care center located in Grand Rapids, MI. The mission of HIS is to reflect the spirit of Christ by providing compassionate, accessible healthcare. We envision a collaborative community where accessible, quality healthcare promotes wellness for all. Located in Burton Heights since 1998, we provide medical, dental, counseling, and spiritual care services to the economically disadvantaged. Last year we averaged 1,000 patient visits each month. Most of our patients, 65% of whom are Hispanic, live at or below the poverty level and experience many barriers to accessing quality health care including insurance, income, transportation, culture, and language. Our mission is accomplished not only through our small core of competent and caring staff members, but also through the 120 community volunteers actively involved throughout the organization as well as other community organizations and educational institutions. Almost 80% of our revenue comes from donated services, goods, and money.
