- The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) is recognized by the American Dental Association as the national certification board for dental assistants. More than 37,000 dental assistants are currently DANB certified nationwide. DANB certifications and certificates of knowledge-based competency are recognized or required in 39 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Air Force and the Department of Veterans Affairs. DANB is a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. DANB's Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA) certification programs are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
