    • The Stamford School of Regional Anesthesias mission is to provide a high quality regional anesthesia training program in the context of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS). A robust regional anesthesia program is a critical component of ERAS in the perioperative surgical home model of care, which is designed to provide coordinated, organized care from the time of the decision to have surgery to 30 days post discharge. Driven by disruptive public policy, medicine is transitioning from the fee for service payment system to a value based system what alternative models of payments as the leverage for change. Anesthesia departments will be the driving force for the surgical home model in the next decade so it is imperative as an anesthesiologist to be educated about the inevitable changes in health care reimbursement that are being driven by the patient experience, quality, outcomes, and costs.
