• NSC, founded in 2006, is an innovative, non-profit, central fill pharmacy acting as a member of the Northern Virginia Health Safety Net. Our mission is to provide quality pharmaceutical care and medication access to the low-income uninsured children and adults of Northern Virginia. We serve patients that are 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, and who do not have access to health insurance. The NSC model is based on research of best-practices and focuses on economy of scale: all partner clinics using one pharmacy for the benefit of all, rather than each clinic developing their own pharmacy.Since we dispensed our first prescription in September of 2007 we have served more than 4,800 patients, filling well over 124,162 prescriptions valued at over $32 million dollars in aid. We partner with 13 different free clinics and community health centers in 19 different locations throughout Prince William, Loudoun, Fairfax, and Arlington counties in Virginia. Our average patient lives on less than $15,000 per person in their family per year and most are on more than four medications for chronic diseases at a time. Our patients in the past have often had to choose between food for themselves and their family or their own personal well-being.
