- Anticipating the need for more advanced checkpoint solutions, a group of security industry veterans joined together to establish Integrated Defense and Security Solutions (IDSS). Beginning in May 2012, IDSS was established by the founder and former President of L-3 Security & Detection Systems, Joseph Paresi, and the founder and former Chairman and CEO of Analogic Corporation, Bernard Gordon, along with his new company Photo Diagnostic Systems, Inc. (PDSI). With intimate knowledge of the threats and challenges associated with the manual x-ray based solutions in use at airport checkpoints and secure facilities today, IDSS developed a patent-pending new approach to checkpoint baggage screening that utilizes True Dual-Energy analysis of the material characteristics of baggage, in a cost effective design that is based on mature medical computed tomography (CT).
