- Healing the Children (HTC) is one of the oldest and largest non-governmental, humanitarian, volunteer driven charities in the nation. Celebrating its 35 year anniversary in 2014, HTC has 14 chapters across the US supported by a National Office. HTC partners with American healthcare providers to help underserved children around the world secure urgently needed medical care otherwise unobtainable. HTC has provided access to donated medical care for 250,920 children from more than 100 countries. Healing the Children Oregon and Western Washington (HTCOR/WWA) is the local chapter of HTC. Our mission is to help underserved children access the health care they need and deserve. We facilitate our mission through the passion and dedicated of hundreds of medical and professional volunteers annually. We provide access to medical services, medical resources, and education and training. HTC OR/WWA has served 20,165 children and is proud to be celebrating 28 years of changing lives!HTCOR/WWA has been serving children at home and abroad since 1985. We office two primary programs Medical Teams Abroad and International Inbound. Over the years, the Medical Teams Abroad program has grown significantly and represents nearly 95% of our service provision. The International Inbound program continues to treat children who cannot access health care in their own countries, by bringing them to the U.S. We additionally look for partnerships in the US to promote awareness and education about global health.
