- For 27 years the Family Giving Tree has been steadfastly committed to being of service to those most in need. So perhaps its not surprising that what started as a San Jose State MBA project to help in-need children has grown steadily into an established, widely respected, nonprofit organization.Over the last 27 years Family Giving Tree has served nearly 1,500,000 children and individuals throughout the greater Bay Area. We actively endeavor to inspire the values of kindness, philanthropy and volunteerism in our community.With the invaluable financial support of our donors and sponsors, the hands-on involvement of our volunteers, drive leaders, and in partnership with wonderful nonprofit agencies and school partners, the Family Giving Tree stages two major drives each year. The Holiday Wish Drive fulfills childrens exact holiday gift wishes, and the Back to School Drive provides backpacks filled with school supplies and books to local K-12 children most in need.
