• The Diocese of Alexandria was established July 29, 1853 by Pius IX as the Diocese of Natchitoches. The See City was transferred to Alexandria and designated the the Diocese of Alexandria on August 6, 1910.Most diocesan offices (including the Bishop's Office, Chancery, Archives, Business, Catholic Charities, Catholic Schools, The Church Today, Development and Public Affairs, Hispanic Ministries, Religious Education, Steubenville Youth Conference, Tribunal Vocation, Youth Ministry and Young Adult Ministry) are located in the St. Joseph Catholic Center at 4400 Coliseum Blvd. in Alexandria.Maryhill, located at 600 Maryhill Road in Pineville is an active spirituality center serving the needs of adults, young adults and youth. Holy Savior Menard High School located at 4603 Coliseum Blvd in Alexandria serves 7th through 12th grade and is the only diocesan school. There are seven (7) other parochial school that form our diocesan school system.Separately incorporated but important services of the diocese are: St. Mary's Training School Where Sever Challenges Are Met with Profound Love (6715 Highway 1, Boyce) near Alexandria serving the profoundly to severely mentally retarded and autistic and Manna House at 2655 Lee Street, Alexandria serving a free lunch 365 days a year without a question and without a verbal sermon to those who come to eat.
