• Fashion Fights Poverty (FFP) is a Washington, DC metro area-based 501c3 that began in 2005 as an annual eco-ethical fashion show on the United Nations Week calendar. Since then, Fashion Fights Poverty has evolved into one of the largest non-profit ethical and eco fashion organizations in the United States raising awareness and contributing to initiatives that encourage and support creative, effective, and sustainable means of challenging poverty. The organization is centered on the principle that the fashion and textiles industries offer unique and effective opportunities to contribute to the alleviation of poverty. Working with designers, craftsmen and consumers, Fashion Fights Poverty urges them to help fulfill this mission through trade, skill-building and community empowerment.Fashion Fights Poverty collaborates with industry organizations to creatively challenge poverty world-wide, sponsor local DC artisan programs, mentor high school and college students in related disciplines, and educate industry and consumers in eco-ethical business and personal practices. Through the Dress Responsibly Annual Gala and Look book campaign, Fashion Fights Poverty provides an outlet for premier fashion houses, as well as local and international artisans and designers, who have demonstrated how fashion, textiles and designs can and will continue to alleviate poverty and empower communities.MISSIONFashion Fights Poverty’s (FFP) mission is to raise awareness and to contribute to initiatives that encourage and support creative, effective, and sustainable means of challenging poverty.
