    • In January of 2011 Sustainable Seattle (S2) released the Happiness Initiative (HI), as its fifth set of regional sustainability indicators. The project is a departure from S2s 20-year history of just objective sustainability indicators. The Happiness Initiative an emerging non-profit with a national scope. This mission of the Happiness Initiative (HI) is to work for a just, healthy and resilient society where all people have the opportunity to pursue happiness. The Happiness Initiative provides education, awareness, toolkits, technical assistance, and services to support happiness projects in your area. The HI was inspired by the country of Bhutans work to measure Gross National Happiness (GNH) and a global trend to measure happiness instead of just gross domestic product.
