In addition, products distributed to non-profit organizations through Diakon Kathryn's Kloset each year touch the lives of some 400,000 people regionally, nationally, and internationally.Its name meaning one assigned by the church to minister to the needs of others, Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries was formed by the 2000 affiliation of Tressler Lutheran Services of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Lutheran Services Northeast. With its deepest roots originating in 1868, Diakons history includes the legacy of service of such additional organizations as Lutheran Social Services of Maryland, Baltimore.Working in several dozen service centers and senior living communities, more than 2,300 Diakon staff members bring hope, hospitality, and healing to thousands of people every day.In addition to several rental-assistance housing complexes, Diakon operates the following senior living communities:Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, Pa.; Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle, Pa.; Diakon Senior Living - Hagerstown, Hagerstown, Md.; Frey Village, Middletown, Pa.; Luther Crest, Allentown, Pa.; The Lutheran Home at Topton, Topton, Pa.; Manatawny Manor, Pottstown, Pa.; Ohesson, Lewistown, Pa.; and Twining Village, Holland, Bucks County, Pa.
