• The West Seattle Helpline is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to helping members of the West Seattle community. We provide information, referrals, and limited financial assistance to help working families in need. We strive toward a strong community of neighbors helping neighbors.The West Seattle Helpline is funded by many individuals, businesses, and faith-based organizations within the West Seattle Community along with foundations and other supporters throughout Seattle. We are a volunteer-driven organization. We provide three primary program services:--The Clothesline--At our free clothing store, The Clothesline, we provide new and like-new clothing to those in need free of charge. We have clothing for infants, children, teens, and adults, including specialized clothing such as school uniforms and professional attire for job interviews. Scheduling an appointment is easy and the Clothesline is open to all Seattle residents.--Rent and Utility Assistance--For low-income individuals and families, an unexpected crisis or financial hardship can be devastating. We provide one-time emergency assistance to keep our neighbors from falling into the cycle of poverty. Our support helps them keep the lights on, the water running, and often is the safeguard that prevents families from becoming homeless.--Transportation Assistance--Whether its a medical appointment, a job interview, or trip taking the kids to school, our transportation assistance program helps our low-income neighbors get where they need to go to provide for themselves and their families. In partnership with King County Metro, we administer thousands of dollars worth of bus tickets to those in need every year.Through these programs and services provided by our community partners, we work to help our neighbors in need get back on their feet after a crisis or financial hardship.
