• The Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce was established in 1949 after the post WWII building boom saw the Island evolve into a thriving trio of separate municipalities: Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach. More community improvements and growth to expand the local tourism industry along with the businesses to support it created a need for the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce on the Island.In 1979 the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce reestablished itself as a strong business promoting entity. The AMI Chamber engaged in helping to support Anna Maria Islands much needed infrastructure needs as well as tourist industry needs as a result of growing local and national interests on the beautiful 7 mile island. At this time the AMI Chamber had 138 members.Today the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce has over 550 members and plays a fundamental role in promoting local area tourism, working closely with Manatee County & local city officials as well as the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. The AMI Chamber hosts many festivals a year to support its College Scholarship fund which awards 3 local seniors aid in their college expenses. It also works closely with all non-profit community organizations to assist in preserving the island and its colorful and unique heritage. With its history of support to our island, its residents and our members, it is no wonder it won the 2007-2008 Florida Chamber of the Year Award.
