• Build A Movement (BAM) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to researching and spreading knowledge on the methods of nonviolent, grassroots activism to promote democracy, human rights and social change. On the ground with activists, on university campuses, with policy-makers or in the media, Build A Movement aims to strengthen the capacity of people-power movements and civil society around the world, not only to challenge authoritarianism and injustice, but to ensure peaceful and durable transitions to democracy. BAMs operations include: - Researching strategic nonviolence, civil resistance and grassroots organizing to identify best practices for civil society activists seeking to promote democracy, human rights and social change. - Analyzing ongoing nonviolent movements around the world to formulate recommendations for organizers and to allow policy-makers and international organizations to better understand and support them. - Developing educational material and digital tools for civil society activists to be better equipped in the face of authoritarianism, oppression and violence. - Providing on-the-ground trainings to activists and teaching classes on university campuses to transfer knowledge on movement building, democratization and civil society activism. Build A Movement is registered as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization. It is based in Washington, DC.
