- Tamrac was founded in southern California by outdoor enthusiasts who loved nature photography. The name Tamrac was created to reflect the rugged outdoors. A pine tree found in the American wilderness inspired the name and we carry that heritage proudly today. Today, we are located in beautiful Ogden, Utah were we continue to draw inspiration from the mountains and deserts that surround us. Tamrac has been built through innovation like our Dual- and Triple-Access Systems, wing accessory pockets, sling packs, Memory and Battery Storage System, Dual Foam Technology, Piggy Back Pocket, windowpane mesh, Lens-Bridge® and Lens-Gate® divider systems, and Tuck-A-Way hip belts. We introduced the first tele-zoom pack in the late 1970's and every holster style camera bag on the market is based on this original Tamrac design. Although we have a solid heritage to build upon, we are never done improving.
