• Sustainable Business Ventures (SBV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit (www.sbventures.org). (1) Founder of RecycleForce Columbus -Providing a pathway for formerly incarcerated men and women to successfully re-integrate into the workforce and become responsible, tax-paying, productive community members & citizens through comprehensive environmentally sound and secure end-of-life electronics processing (www.recycleforcecolumbus.org); (2) Developed a Green Entrepreneur Program training low-income 16-24 year olds and difficult-to-employ individuals including inmates and ex-offenders; and (3) United Way of the Bluegrass - Green Entrepreneur training program for clients enrolled in the Back on Track Individual Development Accounts program 2012-2013 Small Business OwnerSBV is working with workforce development leaders, community based organizations and corrections officials that work with at-risk youth, ex-offenders and other hard to serve or difficult to employ individuals through entrepreneur traiining and support.Entreprneuership training provides critical thinking, problen solving and team building skills that are valuable skills for employment and provides benefits even if the participants never start a business. Starting a business like a cleaning business that uses environmentally friendly cleaning products can help low paid individuals working at night and weekend to supplement their often low-paid jobs. For some, entrepreneurship provides an opportunity to create their own job.
