• GLG Pharma, LLC, a Florida biotechnology company is developing a series of patented inhibitors of activated Signal Transducer and Activators of Transcription 3 (p-STAT3) licensed from the Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, Tampa FL. P-STAT3 inhibitors are a new generation of targeted therapies. Four inhibitors have been selected for development and are in advanced preclinical stage.GLG Pharmas therapeutics will treat proliferative diseases; plus nearly all cancers and reach unmet needs in the multi-billion dollar ($75-80B by 2012) anti-cancer market with greater efficacy and fewer side effects than existing therapies. Our newest discovery is treatment of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease in which our product, GLG-302 and we suspect other products in development will significantly benefit this patient population of about 100,000+ patients.GLG-302 has also been selected by the National Cancer Institute's Prevent Cancer program for long term treatment and prevention of triple negative breast cancer. The compound has passed its first hurdle of a 90 day two species toxicology testing at high rates of treatment with no demonstrable side effects. The next testing cycle will be completed by August, 2014, testing the compound in vivo in the disease animal model. NCI will continue to support this development program through Investigational New Drug Application with the FDA, representing nearly $4.0MM in payments by the NCI to third party contractors, benefitting the development of the compound and the company.GLG also has the opportunity to license an approved European Union skin cancer treatment and sell products in France. GLG has obtained similar rights for Latin America and Canada. The joint venture with the EU company will also help GLG sell its new drug candidates in selected parts of the EU for skin cancer. GLG is also partnering the development of novel formulated compounds for the treatment of STAT3 mediated skin disorders.
