Groupgets

Description

• GroupGets is an online crowd purchasing platform that allows users to create or join group buying campaigns for existing products or services. It aggregates micro-buyers for high minimum order quantity goods, securely performs funds collection, purchasing and shipping. The platform differs from other crowdfunding websites in that under-developed projects are not allowed; goods and services on GroupGets must exist and be readily obtainable. Groupgets is also open to manufacturers, producers, and service providers who want to sell their products to an aggregation of micro-buyers. Moreover, private campaigns have brought together businesses and tight-knit groups of individuals as well. GroupGets is as much about access as getting a discount. With its first major public campaign, the FLIR Lepton Thermal Imager, a part only attainable in $250,000 batches was brought into the hands of to individuals worldwide. Integral to this was a joint effort with GroupGets engineering partner PureEngineering LLC. The team developed sample code and a plug-and-play board to make the Lepton usable with low-cost development systems such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi. This significantly lowered barriers to entry, and brought to light many new and exciting applications for the Lepton. GroupGets has welcomed redistribution, with SparkFun electronics now stocking and retailing this development kit to their own customers. The success story speaks for GroupGets and its users. As the platform continues to grow, GroupGets wishes to continue to inspire creativity and to help leverage the power of group purchasing for the benefit of all.
