Idaho Ptech Network

Description

• PTECH: Pathways to Technology Early College High School High School+ College+ Job Placement The Idaho PTECH Network is a pilot program funded by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation. Its mission is to bridge the gap between education and industry by providing students with the credentials and skills needed to secure well-paying jobs in Idahos high growth industries (technology, healthcare, and aerospace / advanced manufacturing) while giving businesses access to a qualified pipeline of employees. This pilot program is based on a successful and highly recognized model started in Brooklyn. Idaho's effort is funded by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation. PTECH began its beta year with eight schools and 90 students in the fall of 2014 and is adding another eight schools and 100 students this fall. The goal is to prepare 1,200 graduates for entry in Idahos workforce by 2018. The Idaho Department of Labor estimates that there will actually be 1,500 applicable high value jobs to fill during that year. This is a win-win proposition for Idahos students, parents and employers. For a complete list of participating schools or to learn more about PTECH, visit www.Idahoptech.org.
