Post:Ballet

Description

• Post:Ballet was founded in 2009 by choreographer Robert Dekkers with a vision to collaborate with multi-disciplinary artists in new and innovative ways. The company integrates modern aesthetics with classically based dance to present work that is deeply personal and relevant to both the creative artists and to our community. Don't miss the company's milestone fifth season, featuring two full evening programs in 2014: Five High at YBCA Theater, August 7-9; and Hi-5 at Z Space, November 20-22. Post:Ballet's fourth annual home season concert series, Four Plays, premiered at YBCA Theater to full houses and rave reviews. The San Francisco Chronicle stated that Post:Ballet argues to become a permanent fixture on the local dance scene. We need more companies like this - inventive, focused, sophisticated and anything but risk averse. The company was featured on the July 2011 cover of San Francisco Arts Monthly, which proclaimed Dekkers followed his quirky muse away from the establishment and toward dance that is meticulously crafted, finely structured, decidedly daring and always beautifully performed. Following the company's second season program, California Literary Review declared Post:Ballet is an example of everything that is good about the Bay Area dance scene inventive choreography, intriguing music, and top-notch dancers. Following the companys inaugural season, Post:Ballet was named Best New Dance of San Francisco by 7x7 Magazine, and in 2011 Dekkers was honored a 25 to Watch artist by DANCE Magazine. Post:Ballet is a fiscally sponsored project of Dancers' Group.
