• Every day our staff, board of directors, and volunteers put faith into action by helping troubled people find dignity and the path to a fulfilling, productive life. We work to end hunger, homelessness, addiction and despair, one person and one family at a time. We help clients achieve improved health, stability and employment, build a bank account and develop healthy financial habits so they can move on to independent living. Evas Village works to heal families, to establish safe and stable homes for children, and create better communities in NJ. Eva's Village was founded in 1982 by Msgr. Vincent E. Puma serving 30 hungry people in Paterson, NJ. Today, we operate 20 programs in downtown Paterson and one in Wayne. Today, we offer food, shelter, substance abuse and behavioral health treatment, primary medical and dental care, transitional and permanent housing for those in need. Additional services include childcare and educational services for children living at Eva's Village, workforce development, and culinary training and placement at The Culinary School at Eva's Village. We serve nearly 500 men, 400 women and 120 children in our sheltering and substance abuse programs annually, plus the thousands we serve daily in our Community Kitchen.Nearly a third of our funding comes from donations of private individuals, churches, civic groups, foundations and businesses. Additional funding is awarded by governmental sources. We maintain a consistent Four Star rating by Charity Navigator. Thousands of volunteers participate by serving in our Community Kitchen, donating food and other supplies, providing in-kind services, and raising vital funds.Our mission includes treating every person with dignity, so we take pride in the fact that our facilities are well maintained and provide clean, safe, and pleasant surroundings for our residents and workers. We also take pride in being good neighbors and are proud to serve the citizens of the greater Paterson area.
