    • Gendercide Awareness Project is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness of the problem of gendercide, the elimination of females. Gendercide refers to the elimination of females, particularly baby girls, in certain parts of the world through selective abortion, infanticide, starvation, and medical neglect. Demographers estimate that currently, there are more than 117 million women missing in the world due to these practices. Each year, we lose almost 2 million baby girls to gendercide. This is truly a silent atrocity. Goals: AWARENESS through community presentations, local and online media. ACTION modest financial support to at-risk women. We commission baby booties from womens cooperatives overseas, paying fair prices. ART exhibit using 11,700 pairs of handmade baby booties from around the world. Each pair represents 10,000 missing women. A take-action section, based on Half the Sky, follows. Opens in Dallas in 2015.
