• The South End Community Health Center is a full service health center providing adult and family medicine, pediatrics, OB-GYN, dental, eye care and WIC services to 22,000 patients accounting for over 80,000 visits annually.Our MissionWe are a board governed, nonprofit, comprehensive health care organization for all residents of the South End and the surrounding communities. We are committed to providing the highest quality, culturally and linguistically sensitive, coordinated health care and social services to every patient, regardless of their ability to pay.Our HistoryThe Health Center was established in 1969 in response to a plea from a group of poor and underserved South End mothers, who sought quality health care for their children. Since then, it has evolved into a full service health center offering adult/family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health as well as dental and eye care. The dedicated staff provide high-quality, culturally and linguistically sensitive and accessible health care, and after 45 years, the Health Center is widely recognized for its outstanding preventive care for children and families, including more than 2,400 homeless patients.The Health Center was awarded a grant, in 2013, from the Federal Agency of Health Resources Services Administration making SECHC a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This grant focuses on the residents of the South End and Lower Roxbury who live in subsidized housing, as they have been identified as the largest group with the highest amount of health disparities
