• Volunteers in Medicine is dedicated to building a national network of free health care clinics for the uninsured and underserved. Experienced Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) staff members provide individualized assistance to local community planning groups through each stage of the clinic development process. Once established, these clinics are members of the VIM Alliance and eligible to participate in its program offerings.The VIM model emphasizes the use of retired and practicing medical providers and community volunteers to deliver quality health care services. At the heart of the VIM model is the Culture of Caring, an inclusive, supportive environment which treats each patient and volunteer with the dignity and respect that they deserve.Throughout its history, the VIM national office has assisted over 100 communities in establishing health care clinics for their uninsured neighbors. These clinics provide the gift of health care to those without access. In 2015, Volunteers in Medicine clinics provided care to over 95,000 patients and delivered over 350,000 visits.
