- WHAT WE DO:Intervention is our primary goal in supporting the children who visit us here at St. Vincent's. By working with family members and care providers, we not only help change children's behavior, but also help change surrounding environments, which often contribute to behavioral problems. It is easier to intervene when troubled children are young than when they are teenagers or adults, when thinking patterns and values are already in place. We work to stabilize our students' behavior so they may obtain the goal of returning to a less restrictive educational setting in the future. OUR PURPOSE:St. Vincent Family Centers is a vital community resource providing pediatric behavioral health care for children ages 0-18 with severe emotional and behavioral problems. Many of these children would have no other alternative for treatment without St. Vincent's, which works with the whole family to provide behavior management tools that will allow the family to stay together whenever possible. The majority of the families served live at or below the poverty line.
