• BARNES VANZE ARCHITECTS, INC, founded in 1989 by Anthony Barnes and Stephen Vanze, has had a long, successful design history in the Washington, DC area and beyond. We provide imaginative architectural solutions carefully tailored to each clients particular needs. This is achieved by combining a respect for tradition with the quiet incorporation of the latest technology. Based in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. with an office in Middleburg, Virginia, we are known for our attention to detail and high level of service from programming through project completion.The firm has completed over 1,000 projects in a variety of building types and scales. Barnes Vanze has concentrated on high-end private residential work, as well as institutional, commercial and planning projects while continuing to expand our interest and expertise in other building types. The firm has worked in 12 states and 6 countries, gaining a reputation through much of the country. Our projects have won over 30 awards for design including the Traditional Buildings Palladio Awards and the Washington DC Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Award for Excellence. Our work has also been published in over 100 books, national periodicals, and blogs. We have developed a successful, personal approach to managing each project through heavy participation by a partner and associate.
