Nyc Science Research Mentoring Consortium

• The NYC Science Research Mentoring Consortium is a group of New York City institutions committed to providing underrepresented high school students with mentored, authentic research experiences in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Consortium partners share expertise and identify strategies to support students in developing science research skills and competencies. We also provide students with college and career readiness supports. The Consortium launched in 2013 serving over 150 high school students from 68 schools. Students were mentored by 80 faculty engaging in authentic post-doctoral and graduate research projects across 20 disciplines. Now in its fourth year, The Consortium consists of 20 partner programs that are supporting 400 students across NYC: · The American Museum of Natural History's Science Research Mentoring Program (SRMP) · The Center for Excellence in Youth Education of the Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai (CEYE) · Columbia University Zuckerman Institute, Brain Research Apprenticeships in NY at Columbia (BRAINYAC) · Columbia University Earth Institute - Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) · CUNY Remote Sensing Earth Systems (CREST) Institute, High School Initiative in Remote Sensing of the Earth Systems Science & Engineering (HIRES) · CUNY College Now (on 8 campuses), STEM Research Academy · DNA Learning Center, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Urban Barcode Research Program (UBRP) · GenSpace · Harlem BioSpace & Columbia University, HYPOTHEkids · NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Applied Research Innovation in Science & Engineering (ARISE) · Rockaway Waterfront Alliance, Environmentor Program · Rockefeller University, Learning at the Bench (LAB) Initiative · Wave Hill, Woodland Ecology Mentorship Program (WERM) Funding for the Consortium is generously provided by The Pinkerton Foundation.
