Born in Bonn, Germany, Charly Engels has been active as a master glazier and stained glass artist since 1976. He was educated and received his experience in Munich & Cologne, Germany. As a result, his design is greatly influenced by the German Masters of stained glass. Charly is a master glass painter as well as a stained glass artist.In 1987, Charly came to the United States and was able to work with Spanish artist Juan Artigas on Saint Christopher Catholic Church in Hope Sound, Florida. He has been commissioned to do artwork for stained glass studios in California, Florida, New York and North Carolina.DomCat Studios opened its first United States studio in Cape Coral, Florida in 1997. The Studio's first commissioned job in the United States was Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Bonita Springs, Florida. The stained glass windows were painted biblical scenes from the life of Jesus with simplified background in hand-blown German antique glass.Thereafter, DomCat Studios did numerous stained glass commissions for churches in the Southeast and throughout the United States. Their work can be found in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina and Rhode Island.DomCat Studios moved their studio to San Diego, California in 2004.
