- Meals On Wheels and Senior Outreach Services has a 45-year tradition of service in Contra Costa County. Our clients are adults aged 60 and older; the majority are over 75. Many are low-income, and many are frail or disabled. The comprehensive services we provide are designed to assist seniors to live independently in their communities in safety, comfort, and dignity. They are:Meals on Wheels delivers hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors 7 days a week.C.C. Cafés offer a healthy lunch and fun social experience to seniors.Friendly Visitor matches homebound seniors with volunteers to spend time together weekly.Home Care Registry matches seniors in need with capable care providers.Fall Prevention Program provides education and home safety improvements to help seniors prevent falls.Geriatric Care Management helps seniors and their families access a range of services to maximize seniors independence.By cross-referring among our programs, their positive impact on the seniors we serve is multiplied. MOWSOS is a vital part of the community here in Contra Costa County, and we partner in our work with local government, other senior-serving agencies, corporations, foundations, civic groups and faith-based organizations. We serve over 5000 seniors each year and are relied upon as a critical single point of contact where seniors and their adult children can turn for help.
